Mechanical Engineer/Component responsible within Base Engine Upper, Valve Train system at the engineering department of Base Engine:
We are responsible for design and delivery of the technical solution of the ICE (internal combustion engine). The Base Engine organization is divided in 5 areas; Base Engine Upper, Base Engine Lower, Base Engine Inner, Engine Drives & Electrical Machines and Fuel & Combustion. Each area covers the complete product development for the components and systems belonging to the department.
The department Base Engine Upper is responsible for the design of Cylinder Head, Valve Train and VVT system. You will be part of an engineering team that develop engineering solutions that fulfil attribute requirements and manufacturing process demands within decided cost and time frames. The work includes contacts with other ICE engineering departments, Test and Verification engineers, CAE teams and manufacturing engineering as well as with external suppliers.
The work consist mainly of being component responsible (KA) for Valve train components (camshafts, valve springs, valves, valve guides etc) but also other design areas within our areas of responsibilities can be part of the job.
Main responsibilities
- KA (component responsible engineer) for Valve train components
- Catia V5 Mechanical engineering
- Secure that design is fulfilling assembly requirements in engine plants both in Sweden and China
- Close cooperation with Procurement and buyer of our components
- Close cooperation with CAE , test engineers and manufacturing engineers
- Close contacts with suppliers both in Europe and China
- Ensure that the technical documentation (3D Model, 2D drawings, TCE, KDP) is available at the right level and at the right time.
- Optimize packaging of components towards surrounding environment and defining requirements on surrounding systems / components in order to make the design work as intended.
- Participate at package meetings for resolution of mechanical conflicts and clearances issues.
Skills Requirements/Krav
Required qualifications
- Experience as a design engineer for mechanical HW for at least 2 years
- Skilled in CATIA V5 and Team Center Engineering (TCe).
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Technical education at university level or equivalent experience.
- Internal combustion engine knowledge
- Knowledge of Volvo or Aurobay development process and working systems are preferable

- Structured way of working
- Good documentation skills.
- Positive attitude.
- Self-driven, result oriented and flexible.
